The Poison Ivy

Mr. Brown is now on prescription medicine from the poison ivy!

The town came out and tried to spray to help it. "Sometimes it is hard to kill they said" Ya think???

Stacie, you'll appreciate this. Do Not under ANY circumstances set it on fire. The fumes can get it your lungs and actually kill you. Unbelievable how powerful it is!

Pepper's leg is healing very well. She is walking on it some with a special boot to keep the pressure off.

We (Pepper, Piglet and I) actually went to church today for the first time in 5 weeks. I felt like a visitor! Mr Brown has been taking everyone else.

We are cleaning the house today so we can enjoy tomorrow, even with our rain! Y'all have a great weekend and remember all the military who serve us and protect us!!!

Things I Don't Understand

First,

This is certainly not an exhaustive list okay?

I don't understand how parents in Minnesota can be charged with child endangerment when they are using "alternative medicine" instead of chemo to treat their cancer stricken son when...

A Nebraska couple are not charged with anything when they are letting their 8 year old SON be a GIRL now. They are switching schools, changing his name to a girl one, letting him have long hair and earrings and dress in skirts and dresses. He is 8 years old and has been dressing like a girl for several years at home. How is this not child endangerment???

Now, as someone whose mama and mother-in-law suffered from cancer 2 years apart, I know how bad cancer treatments can be. They are poison, the oncologists tell you this. They are trying to poison the cancer cells. I do know how bad the treatments can be, I have seen. They make no guarantees and the oncologists we saw made that very clear and were as compassionate as could be. One of these dear women beat the cancer here on earth, and one went to heaven to be healed.

I just don't get how the second case isn't seen as child endangerment...

Now, off to different things I don't understand.

How can poison ivy live? How can the roots be so so strong?? How can you spray it with the concentrate instead of diluting it because it won't die and it still lives. This is absurd. If I forget to water my tomato plants for 2 days, they are wilted and I have to baby them back to life, but poison ivy can be spayed with concentrate poison and thrive as if you are fertilizing it??

Thanks for reading my rants this evening. If you have any tricks on how to kill it, leave a comment would ya??

Updates and links to view

Hello all!

We are still trying to heal with Pepper's broken leg. We saw the ortho and he had bad news. Both of her bones are broken not just one. But, at least she is in a hard cast now and is finally starting to feel a little better. She is still on elevated leg status and is getting restless from that, but is keeping a good attitude!

The first link I would like to share is for LittleTait His mama grew up right here in Charleston,SC but now lives in Alaska. Their baby was born very very early. Please visit their site and do what you can for them! Thanks!

The next is for My friend Kristin She and her whole state could use our prayers!!

Y'all have a great weekend!

Beacuse I love the Emergency Room

Pepper gave me the grand opportunity to go there last night. Mr. Brown was mowing the grass due to the 90 degree weather we were supposed to have today. Pepper thought it would be great to use some of the supplies she found in a trash pile down the road.

Wood, rope, etc was found in the throw away pile and she was going to build a rope swing from the tree. She built a grand swing and just to make sure it was VERY secure for her siblings and friends that were to use it, she climbed up the tree one more time to make sure everything was nice and tight.

She slipped and fell about 7 feet out of the tree and landed on her ankle. It was very swollen by the time I made it over there and she could not walk. So, off to the ER we went.

Of course it was a Friday night, and was very, very crowded. The triage nurse apologized and said everyone thinks they have the swine flu. Anyway, her leg is broken. It is so swollen, they cannot hard cast it, so she is in a semi hard cast from toes to knee. Kinda looks the same from outside. Next week, we see the ortho again and they will determine what to do then.

We spent 5 hours at the ER and then another 2 hours trying to get her Rx filled. Apparently 24 hour pharmacies are not able to fill Rx's at 2:30 am due to computer reboots that take 2 hours to do. By the time we arrived and they told me that I was pretty mad. I mean, what is the point of a 24 hour pharmacy except for situations like that? The second store had a very nice pharmacist, and although they would be able to fill it, they were out of the medicine. So, back to the first we went to wait.

Anyway, we got it, gave it to her, and after trying very hard to get comfortable she finally fell asleep about 5 am. Poor thing!

She was born with a smile on her face and she has kept it even through this ordeal. Smiling and crying as they told my natural born swimmer she would not be swimming this season. Smiling as we drove trying to get her medicine filled. Smiling and crying as she tried to get comfortable with all those pillows under her leg.

So, this weekend we are elevating, taking tons of pain meds, practicing using crutches, and already fighting the itch down inside the cast.

I am just thankful to God that it was only her leg and nothing more serious like her neck. We prayed together on the way to the ER and also on the way home for His protection that He gave to us all.
