Our Thanksgiving

Here are our pre meal snacks

Here is Piglet trying to help Mr. Brown by giving him carving tips

Then he came to help Peach set the table.

Pear played us some songs after supper that she has learned on the piano

Pepper also played, it was her idea to learn these and she has been leading the practice

My blue eyes will make you give me some turkey right?

I would really like some too please!

Look at me sitting like a good girl, can I have some?

Ha, I got mine first because I am old and I know all the secrets around here. Now, I am sleeping it off!

Here are my reasons for being thankful this year. Besides my salvation and living in this country, I am thankful for my family.

Mr. Brown, I am so thankful for you for so many reasons. You are a wonderful leader, hard worker and provider and a wonderfully honest man. And you fry a great turkey!

Peach, you are turning into a lovely young lady. I am so thankful for the hard work that you so often do and your loving example to your siblings.

Pepper, you are my smiling little light. You were born with that smile and I am so thankful I get to see it everyday!

Pear, you are just a joy. You follow close and take it all in. I am thankful for your faithfullness and inquisitive nature.

Piglet, you are just a charmer. You are starting to follow your daddy everywhere and I love watching you as you grow into a little boy out of your baby days. I will always cherish this thanksgiving since you got your first haircut from your grandma today!

A Game We Played Today

Okay, we went to Sam's today for some Thanksgiving stuff. It was Very Very crowded. After being there for longer than expected, we were tired and cranky. Mr. Brown decided we should play a little game he made up. The rules were as follows, he would start and we would follow. We would try to make a story, each of us using the next letter in the alphabet and saying one sentence. It went as follows:

Mr Brown, Me, Peach, Pepper, and Pear in rotating order(Piglet is too little to participate, but he shared in our laughter)

Alright, listen up this is a story about some trees (Mr Brown)
Bees pollinated some of those trees (Me)
Cats climbed some of those trees (Peach)
Dogs peed on some of those trees (Pepper)
Everyone loved looking at the pretty leaves (Pear)
Frogs liked to eat those leaves (Mr. Brown)
Gosh, I liked those leaves (Me)
Holly bushes were jealous those leaves didn't hurt (Peach)
I wanted to make a craft with those leaves (Pepper)
Just come on with the story (Pear)
Kites would sometimes end up lost in those trees (Mr Brown)
Love songs were sung around these trees (Me)
My oh my some people would say as they saw how tall they grew (Peach)
"No", mamas would say when the boys wanted to swing in those trees (Pepper)
Okay, is it my turn (Pear, who didn't know it was her turn or why we were laughing)
Please lets stay a while longer children were heard saying (Mr Brown)
Quick, run from the bees was also heard sometimes in the spring (Me)
Really, is this in the middle of a bee hive (Peach, about my bee frequency)
Say, did you find my watch when you were packing that picnic basket (Pepper)
Take this back to the van please mamas would say after the picnic was done (Pear)
Ukuleles were heard in this park they say (Mr. Brown)
"Victorious" little boys would yell as they captured their prey (Me)
What is the name of this park anyway Daddy (Peach)
Xylophones sometimes were heard with those ukuleles (Pepper)
Yes, and then the park rangers came to say keep the noise down (Pear)
Zee end (Mr. Brown)

Mr. Brown always knows how to make things fun. We made it home, and got our stuff put in the fridge and the pantry. The girls are working on our thanksgiving decorations for our table, and we are trying to do a little each day so it won't be overwhelming on Thursday. We are all looking forward to such a nice day to celebrate, and pause and give Thanks to our God. Thanksgiving has become one of my favorite holidays because they can't find a way to exploit it. There is no Santa or Easter Bunny to downplay the Christian significance of the day. Thanksgiving is about being with family and setting aside that time to reflect on what God has blessed us with. I love it, and I hope you do to!

Something Fun

I am Starfish and I approved this message. And you thought you didn't have to hear that until the next set of elections :)

Okay, I got this idea from a friend of mine on her blog. Name 6 things you said you would NEVER do, say, think or experience as a mom that you do, have done, said or experienced.

Me first, but you guys better comment on here with yours!

1. Say "Because I said so"

2. Have a child throw up in a public place and my only thought be about the poor child instead of embarrassment

3. Taken a child, or children(!), out of our house in their pajamas

4. Have various bodily fluids of all kinds on my clothes and/or body

5. Said something I regretted and prayed that God would make that something they never remembered (brutal honesty here, thank God for His forgiveness!)

6. Make up silly songs with my own lyrics and sing them in public to sooth or make a child laugh.

7. I know I said 6, but this one is the most important. Thank God for my life and family. This is truly want I always wanted, but much more than I ever expected!

Your turn...

God is still good

You know what? God did not say this morning "Oh No, Obama is president. Now what I am going to do?"

God is in control and He knew long before today what the outcome of the presidency would be. We are commanded in the Bible to pray for our leaders and we must be obedient in doing this. We must do this for the future of our nation and ourselves!

On a very good note, the gay marriage bans were passed in all three states, including California, were they were on the ballot. Dr.Dobson and The Call had a pray and fasting event on Saturday in California. One can only see God's mighty hand in that vote coming from a state such as California.

May we remember what we are to do, and may God Bless America!
