Our trip to the corn maze

We went to the corn maze and had a wonderful time. These guys really know how to make the most money from corn. First, they sell silver queen corn all summer long (yum!) Then they "cut" a design into the corn as a maze. Then for the month of October, you can come walk through the corn maze. Then after October they sell the old corn as deer corn. They have a pumpkin patch too, where you pick a pumpkin and decorate it. Then they have hay rides. We had a great time. Here are some pictures.

Here is a picture of the beautiful property. Such peace and serenity here.

Here are Mr. Brown and Starfish (me)

Here are Pear and Peach enjoying lunch. Peach packed the cooler and had placed the sandwiches in the plastic bucket you see. It was a good thing she did because we had to use it to kill yellow jackets. 32 of them to be exact. We had a contest to see who could kill the most. I have never seen so many in one place like that before. Mr. Brown won the contest by the way.

Here are Mr. Brown and Pepper eating lunch. This picture shows just how hostile the yellow jackets were. We were blocking our soda cans from them!

Here are the pumpkins all decorated. We don't "do" halloween here. But we love to enjoy fall.

Here is Piglet getting ready for the hay ride

Do you want "change" this Tuesday

There was another country who wanted change too. Look here: http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v12/v12p299_Degrelle.html to see what they got. You know what they say, if you don't know history, it will repeat itself...

Here's the quote that got me:
"The two sides -- those for and those against Hitler -- were very nearly equal in numbers. But whereas those on the left were divided among themselves, Hitler's disciples were strongly united. And in one thing above all, the National Socialists had an incomparable advantage: in their convictions and in their total faith in a leader. Their highly organized and well-disciplined party had conted with the worst kind of obstacles, and had overcome them."

No go on the Jane Austen

Well, due to a family emergency I was unable to attend the Jane Austen event.

My husband's grandma was taken by EMS to the hospital where they thought she had a stroke. They have not been very optimistic about her condition now, and the Doctor said they need to be prepared for her not getting over this.

My husband is okay with this because his grandma is a believer and we know she is going to a better place. His sister however is not, and so does not believe she is going to heaven because she does not believe in heaven. This is a very hard situation right now for him, and for me because he is so stressed.

I will keep everyone posted on here, but for now it does not look good. She has a heart problem, lung problem, Alzheimer's and now this. This is further making her body not be able to recover. I am praying that her suffering ends soon, for I know she is ready to meet her savior face to face.

Please pray for my husband's sister. I cannot stand family drama, but that is where we are unfortunately. Thank you!

Bill Steely

I saw a video today and its awesome. If ya like country music (and even if ya don't listen anyway) you'll love it.

This man has a great testimony, trying to get a career in country music and all that involves, he walked away from it all, the God brought him back to music for a reason. An awesome song, and a great reminder that we need to keep our eyes open and our prayers continuous for opportunities to witness. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_2_c4lnZvQ

I give up on this Monday...

Well, despite my best intentions, I burnt dinner. You see, we have a schedule it goes like this

Sunday - crock pot meal (usually chicken)
Monday - Fall/Winter- soup Spring/Summer - meat on the grill
Tuesday - Mexican
Wednesday - Fish
Thursday - Beans/Beef
Friday - Pasta
Saturday - Pizza and the only night we have Soda

Well, I didn't make the chicken yesterday. I felt kinda sick, and I had some leftover stuff so we had salads, sandwiches, and popcorn. I need leftover chicken for our burritos tommorrow, so I made it today instead of soup. I forgot until I was going to sleep last night that I never took the chicken out of the freezer. So, my dear sweet Mr. Brown went outside to get the chicken from the freezer for me. This morning, I meant to get it from the fridge. At lunch time, I realized it was still in the fridge. It was slightly frozen. I put it in the crock-pot on high, and left it. I made mashed potatoes and then went to take the chicken out of the crock only to see it was burnt. Dried out and burnt in places. Hmm, I do not like this new crock-pot.

Anyway, when I called Mr. Brown he said, put the mashed potatoes in the fridge for y'all to eat fro lunch tomorrow, we will go out. He came home and we went to a restaurant that has .99 kids meals and big screen TV's. Well, it is Monday, as in Monday night football, so it was packed. $26 dollars later, we got home to get baths, my kids were exhausted, the dog had eaten the burnt chicken from the trash can, complete with my potato mess from the trash can all over my kitchen floor.

So, I said if I ever burn the chicken again, I think you should stop at KFC and get a bucket of chicken on your way home!!!

Now, off to soak my beans before I forget...

Prayer for a friend

Right now, I can't give too many details, but would you please pray for a friend of mine, Mrs. B?

She has lost 3 babies in the past couple years, and it looks as though their adoption of a baby may be finally happening. She has been through so much, but has been so faithful to God during this whole time. Please just lift them up right now, and I promise I will post the details once they are available!

Thank you!

Sewing/Craft Room Pictures

This is the sewing and beading table. Mr Brown hung pegboard that I painted to match the chairs. The ice cream hanging is the first quilt Peach made, the slight glare is the piece that goes under the machine to steady it and gives you more sewing room and a flat surface to work on. (Thanks grandma!) The quilted bag over the chair slips over the machine to protect it from dust and stuff. Mr. Brown hung his leverler on here to as a joke to us to remember his hard work in helping us get this room together. At the very end of the big table, you can see an old school desk with the middle cubby for holding crafts, coloring etc. It schooches out for when we are in here working for Pear to do those things.

This is the ironing table Peach designed. I painted it to match too. It HAD to be painted. It is an old science table I bought from a surplus sale and it had been written on from high school students with nasty language. But, with a slate top, its virtually undestructable and would work for this idea, and it was $5. As you can see, the cat decided this was a nice spot to sit in the basket and look out the window. You can see Pepper's sewing machine with its cover under here too. But the table is great for ironing and cutting out fabric, and it doubles for a work station for other things if needed. Great idea Peach!

Next, I am working on the laundry and pantry area in the other half of this room. When I get that finished, I will post those. But, I have a feeling it will be next month before I am done. Mr. Brown is building some things for over there, and has a couple ideas for some things, so I am waiting while he does that. He always comes up with neat ideas. My buckets of grain, oatmeal, beans and sucanat don't fit in normal pantries. so he is working on some things.

Beall Phillips

For a wonderful post by Doug Phillips about his wife for her birthday, go here and scroll to the Monday post, http://www.visionforum.com/hottopics/blogs/dwp/

It will make you cry. It is a picture of True Biblical Love between a husband and a wife, and a wonderful reminder to keep praying for the unborn! Thank you Doug and Beall for this personal glimpse into your life and for sharing your story with others! It blessed me to read it today, and I hope it blesses you too.
